Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in support of Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics’ (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M). PEO-M leads a diverse maritime portfolio that develops, fields, and sustains SOF-unique surface and undersea mobility and mission solutions—spanning crewed and uncrewed platforms, combat diving systems, and mission equipment. Through close collaboration with Naval Special Warfare operators and strong government/industry partnerships, PEO-M drives modernization, integration, testing, and lifecycle replacement to ensure maritime forces retain lethality and survivability advantages in denied and contested environments. The organization also transitions emerging technologies into operational use, advancing navigation, communications, situational awareness, and training capabilities across the SOF maritime enterprise.

• Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
• Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
• Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, and projects.
• Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
• Support government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
• Provides advanced inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
• Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval. Supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort. Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
• Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
• Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
• Provides significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
• Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
• Provides expert level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
• Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility
Certifications: DAWIA Advanced (formerly DAWIA level III) Equivalency in the Engineering & Technical Management, Program Management, or Test & Evaluation fields or ability to attain within 6 months of hire with approved customer deferral.
Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline
Years of Experience: 10 years of relevant position experience, including:
• Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System as directed by DoD Instruction 5000.02, “Operation of the Defense Acquisition System”
• Extensive experience in the planning, management, and oversight of science & technology (S&T) and research & development (R&D) projects to include specific experience in SOF acquisition S&T and R&D processes.
• Experienced in participation, management, and leadership with S&T/R&D working groups, especially with regards to SOF maritime communications equipment, networks, and planned architectures.
• Prior experience in development of strategic planning and S&T/R&D portfolio management to include technology roadmapping.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of SOF-unique acquisition processes is desired.
• Maritime experience is valued.
