Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for an E-4B Modeling & Simulation Engineer supporting the 95th Wing, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. This on-site position oversees and implements execution of the extended reality (XR) training program supporting the 1 ACCS and provides direct support to four Executive Mission Aviator instructors responsible for training Airmen on E-4B Airborne Mission System. Coordinate with the 95th Wing Staff and other stakeholders for the development and sustainment of modules and advocate for funding for training initiatives as well as coordinate with 55th Wing agencies ensuring proper network access and equipment are accessible to perform virtual/XR lab functions.
This work is full-time on-site with approximately 15% of travel providing Test & Evaluation support services as a flying aircrew or ground support member located at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska.
• Oversees and implements execution of the extended reality (XR) training program supporting the 1 ACCS and provides direct support to four Executive Mission Aviator instructors responsible for training Airmen on E-4B Airborne Mission Systems.
• Responsible for developing and updating XR training materials for extended reality systems and associated immersive technology (e.g., Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality) reflecting modifications & changes to airborne mission equipment, including, but not limited to, patching and maintaining the XR environment
o Builds/implements interactive XR modules based on new aircraft equipment modifications across 8 aircrew positions and 7 aircraft maintenance specialties
o Recommends to the government procurement of new and/or updated equipment incorporating emerging virtual or XR technologies.
• Plans and leads acceptance testing for new XR systems and identifies discrepancies
o Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of the E-4B airborne mission systems, digital twin replication of mission system inputs and outputs, replication of the E-4B flight deck, replication of maintenance actions, and the relevance of training content.
• Coordinate with the 95th Wing Staff and other stakeholders for the development and sustainment of modules and advocate for funding for training initiatives, as well as coordinate with 55th Wing agencies, ensuring proper network access and equipment are accessible to perform virtual/XR lab functions.
• Inspects and conducts inventory/accountability of XR equipment.
• Conduct user training sessions for equipment and module use.
• Organize, schedule, and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and events related to XR. Participate in program reviews to identify and address deficiencies, evaluate the effectiveness of training, and incorporate feedback.
• Partner with the training manager and work with users to develop training plans and collaborate with weapon system stakeholders and the Integrated Technology Platform (ITP) program office to resolve deficiencies, advanced training solutions, and advocate for future modules.
• Assist with the expansion of the VR training module catalog, coupled with the integration of the Weapon System Maintenance Trainer (WSMT) emulator.
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: TS-SCI, NC2-ESI
Certifications: valid US Driver’s License
Education: BS/BA
Additional Experience: At least 3 years of E-4B crew experience, plus experience with Atlassian Jira Software (ID deficiencies—steps, actions, looks of AMSs), Unity Gaming Engine, Microsoft Office Programs, Standard Base Supply System, Integrated Maintenance Data System, and Joint Deficiency Reporting System
