Overview

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in support of Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics’ (SOF AT&L) Directorate of Science & Technology (Dir S&T). Dir S&T supports the discovery, development, and delivery of game-changing SOF-peculiar technology to special operations warfighters, which supports integrated deterrence across the full spectrum of conflict.

This is a full-time position located at MacDill AFB, FL

Responsibilities

  • Support government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements
  • Provide advanced inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution
  • Support contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval.
  • Support budget control directly supporting the engineering effort
  • Provide decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies. Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks
  • Plan, execute, and document surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes
  • Provide significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements
  • Complete advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials
  • Provide expert level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution
  • Analyze trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes

Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen 
Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility
Certifications: DAWIA Practitioner Equivalency IAW the PWS (DAWIA level II equivalent), in the Test and Evaluation or Engineering (systems, computer, or electrical) or equivalent fields. OR ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Education: Bachelor's degree computer, electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering 
Years of Experience: 12 years of relevant experience to include:

  • Experience in evaluating technologies for incorporation into identified Program Office portfolios, developing/managing technical contracts, and identifying/coordinating technical issues and policy across various technical capability areas.
  • Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition Framework process.

  • Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System as directed by DoD Instruction 5000.02, “Operation of the Defense Acquisition System”

 

Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: DAWIA Level III desired

Education: Master's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Management desired 
Additional Experience:

  • Knowledge of price and cost analysis sufficient to review proposals, actual and estimated expenditures and established rates to determine price reasonableness or to determine a negotiation position. Ability to properly apply funding rules associated with the obligation of multiple types of appropriations.
  • Ability to apply precedents found in government contracting case law to specific contracting situations to ensure that legally binding contracting officer decisions are consistent, justifiable and will be upheld at appellate courts or boards.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of fact-finding, analysis and resolution of complex contracting problems, and the ability to develop concrete action plans to solve problems.
